    Heinrich Reisenbauer

    *1938, Austria

Heinrich Reisenbauer was born in Kirchau, Lower Austria and was in high school when his problems first appeared.

He spent thirty years at the psychiatric clinic before he was accepted into the House of Artists in 1986, where he has lived and worked ever since. He soon developed his individual style of the serial representation of everyday objects and people. As a strict, structured formalist, he uses coloured pencils and pencils to draw his works on paper in rows from left to right. He also uses Edding markers and acrylic paints on large canvases. The subjects in each of his works are similar but never identical, which creates a tension that makes the works so appealing. His works can be found in the Collection de l’Art Brut, Lausanne, for example, and in the LaM, Villeneuve d’Ascq, in The Museum of Everything and in the collection of Gerhard and Karin Dammann, Switzerland.
